Stop and Think: Making AI Your Own
Lesson video
Available to enrolled participants
The final letter of SPARKS is S: Stop and Think. It is the protocol most people skip. Strategic pauses produce measurable results. Research across 312 companies found that teams that built in structured pauses saw 40% more sales and 52% higher profits compared to teams that operated in constant motion. Stopping is not a failure of momentum. It is the act that makes momentum sustainable.

Summary
The Three Questions
Every strategic pause comes down to three questions. Am I doing something I should be doing? Am I getting closer to my objective? Should I change my approach? These are not reflection exercises. They are course-correction tools. The capstone is a structured application of all three: stop, assess what you have built, and decide whether it does what you set out to do.
The Capstone
The capstone is a custom AI tool built around one real challenge from your work. It requires four ingredients: a clear objective (ideally a TRUE NORTH from Day 5), any data or context the tool needs, the work methods the tool will follow, and a specific target output. The build uses the skills from all ten days, particularly problem definition, flipped interaction, and structured briefs.
Regular LLM vs. Custom AI Tool
A regular LLM gives you a blank prompt box and a general-purpose model. A custom AI tool starts from your objective, follows your process, uses your context, and produces your specified output every time. The difference is not the underlying technology. It is the structured thinking you built into the instructions. That is the skill the course has been building toward.
Key Takeaway
You have spent ten days learning to think before you type, define before you prompt, and push past the first answer. The capstone is the proof that you can. Build something real. Test it on something real. Improve it. Then keep going. The goal was never to finish the course. It was to change how you work.
